Definition

Open rate = opened emails / delivered emails. Industry average is 20-25% across sectors, with peaks of 40%+ for highly engaged niche audiences. Note: Apple Mail Privacy Protection (MPP, 2021+) inflates opens by auto-loading tracking pixels. Modern marketers rely more on click rate and reply rate. Still useful for relative comparisons within your own list.
