Transactional Email

Automated one-to-one emails triggered by user actions (receipts, password resets, notifications).

Definition

Transactional emails are sent to one recipient in response to a specific event — order confirmations, shipping notifications, password resets, account verifications, app notifications. They typically have much higher open rates (50%+) than marketing emails because users expect them. Separate from marketing infrastructure: tools like Postmark, SendGrid, and Mailgun specialize in transactional with isolated IP reputation.
