Preheader Text

The preview text that appears after the subject line in the inbox.

Definition

Preheader text shows in the inbox preview pane between the subject line and the first line of the email body. Length: 40-90 characters depending on the email client. A good preheader complements the subject — it doesn't repeat. Without setting one, the email client pulls the first text in your email (often 'View in browser' if not handled), wasting a high-visibility space.
